DM40 & DM40 Pro User Guide

The DM40 product mainly encompasses several functional aspects, namely Basic, Scene functions, AI Voice, Lighting, and firmware upgrade. You can gain an understanding of the product's features via the introductions of these functional components.

1. Basic

The functions that are most frequently used by users, such as recording, Microphone gain adjustment, Headphone volume adjustment and Noise-cancellation, We put it in basic section, all of these can be adjusted in the simplest and quickest way.

Recorder

The default recording format is 48kHz/24bit, PCM format audio, and audio recorded through Maono Link can be exported to your destination folder.

Microphone Gain

The gain supports users to adjust from 0 to 100 levels. We provide the best recommended range. You can adjust the microphone gain according to your usage habits. Usually, if the distance is far, the gain needs to be adjusted to a larger size. If the distance is relatively close, the smaller gain can also achieve a more suitable volume.

Headphone volume

The monitor is off by default, you need to use the toggle switch on the bottom of the microphone to turn on the monitor output function. The volume can be adjusted on the knob or by selecting "Headphone Volume" in the "Basic" section of the Maono Link software.

Noise Cancellation

The DM40 noise cancellation offers three modes: Slight, Moderate and Aggressive. Generally, if the noise level in the noisy environment is relatively low, you can choose the mild noise cancellation mode. And the DM40Pro provides a custom noise cancellation level in addition to the three preset modes. If you still feel that the preset noise cancellation effect is not satisfactory, you can set an appropriate noise cancellation level through the custom adjustment method.

2. Scene

We offer three commonly used scene, which is the original, game, and live streaming in scene section. Each scene provides multiple available sound configurations. When you are playing games or doing live streaming, you can choose the one of configurations for you microphone. When you click on a scene, the currently preset will be automatically configured. If you need to preset a scene, you can change the default configurationin the drop-down list of the scene.

Sound Configuration

For each scene, we provides some sound configurations for presets, and each configuration consists of a graphical Parametric Equalizer (PEQ) and reverb. The preset PEQ is not allowed to be modified. If you think the effect doesn't meet your expectations, you can click the "Copy" button to completely copy a set of the current configuration data. And then you can adjust the sound on the spot. You can create multiple custom configurations under a scene. The custom configurations can be exported and shared with your friends. Moreover, you can import sound effects suitable for the DM40 product in the form of files. Later, we will also open the way of downloading from the official website to provide users with more scene sound effects. You just need to download and then import them to use.

Copy and New

Within the scene, select "Copy" or "+" on the menu bar to create a customized configuration. When you click "+" for creating a new one, you will be prompted to set a name. And when you click "Copy" for copying this for a new one, a copy based on the current configuration will be created directly. You can modify the configuration name in the drop-down list. Or you can drag each band on the PEQ interface to adjust the microphone sound and the reverb effect.

Reset the configuration

The menu bar of the scene provides a reset button. The customized sound configuration can be restored to the original parameter settings using this function.

Export and Delete

In the "More" option of the menu bar, you can export or delete the sound configuration. When you choose to export a configuration, the current sound configuration data will be exported to the location where you want to save it. Click on the "Delete" function will delete the sound configuration that you have created by yourself. The sound configuration that have been debugged can be shared with other friends who own the DM40 microphone. Your friends can add the sound configuration files into their own scene through the import function.

Import configuration

Within the scene section, on the right side of the "My Scene" title bar, we provide an entry for "Import". Here, you can choose to import the sound configuration files shared by your friends. The imported sound configuration will be added to the sound configuration list of the corresponding scene. When you choose to apply the sound configuration, you will experience the same tone as your friends.

EQ

Each sound configuration within the scene includes graphical EQ. The preset offers High-Pass Filter (HPF), Low-Pass Filter (LPF) and five Bands. By dragging the Bands, you can enhance or attenuate the gain of specified frequencies, thus achieving the effect of adjusting the microphone sound. Each frequency point adopts Peaking filtering by default with a fixed Q value. In subsequent updates, we will open up more adjustment parameters.

Reverb

We have preset three levels for Reverb. You can adjust the reverb level according to your needs. If reverb is not needed under your configurations, you can turn it off by unchecking the box.

3. AI Voice Changer

We provide the latest AI voice-changer technology in the DM40 series Microphones. This voice-changing technology can transform your voice into the voice of a character more perfectly, and factors such as the characteristics of your voice, speech speed and emotions can all be perfectly presented. You can have a free trial within a certain period of time.

AI Voice character

For AI voice changer, we offer multiple free trial characters. The DM40Pro model supports up to 12 free characters at most, while the DM40 supports a maximum of 6 free characters. We will provide them to users for free within a certain period of time. If there are any changes to our free policy, we will inform users through the official website or other forms of notification.

Within the AI voice-changing segment, you will be able to discover a diverse range of preset voice-changing characters that we have provided. However, prior to utilizing this function, it is necessary for you to fulfill the user registration process in accordance with the specified requirements.

Registration

We provide the registration method via email address and the direct login method with email verification code to facilitate your registration. When you register with your email number, you may be required to read and agree to the "Privacy Policy", "User Authorization and Licence Agreement" and "AI Voice-changer User Agreement" as required. You need to ensure the legal use of AI voice-changer and must not use it for illegal purposes that affect the rights and interests of others.

In the event that you opt for the direct login approach using the email verification code, upon successful login, you will have the option to set a password within the user center. Once the password has been established, you can subsequently authenticate and log in using your email address and the set password.

💡Tips

If you have not received the verification code email, please ensure that the email address you entered is correct. Check your spam or junk folder, as the email may have been filtered there.

Hear-Self

When you want to audition the AI voice-changer, you can connect your headphones to the headphone jack at the bottom of the DM40. Then, turn on the "Headphone Monitoring" switch in the "AI Settings" option menu located in the upper right corner of the software. In this way, you can listen to the voice be changed by AI voice-changer.

How to use AI Voice-Changer

To begin with, you are required to activate the "AI Voice-changer" option within the AI settings menu. Subsequently, in the device list of your computer system, you will notice a virtual audio device named "Maono AI Microphone". This is a virtual microphone specifically designed for our AI voice function. When you engage in gaming or live streaming activities, you can configure "Maono AI Microphone" as the default input in the software. In this way, your friends or audience will be able to hear different and unexpected voice effects.

AI Noise-Cancellation

Similarly, if you need to use AI Noise-Cancellation, you can also experience it through the "Maono AI Microphone". You just need to turn on the "AI Noise-Cancellation " switch in the "AI Settings" option menu in the upper right corner of the software.

The menu of system tray

We also offer quick options in the computer's system tray. When the software is running in the background, you can find "Maono Link" in the system tray, open the right-click menu and choose to open or close a certain function.

AI Audio Options

In the option menu in the upper right corner of the software, We have provided a "Settings Center". After opening the window, you can see the "AI Audio" tab. Here, we offer options for output devices. The default output is DM40, but you can also change it to other monitoring devices to make it convenient for you to monitor the effects of voice-changer, noise cancellation and so on.

4. Lighting

The DM40 product is equipped with RGB lighting. On the lighting section, you have the ability to modify the lighting display mode, vary the lighting color, and adjust the lighting brightness.

Mode

There are three modes for the lighting color display, namely fixed mode, breathing mode and cycling mode. You need to change the lighting display mode in the software.

Light color

The DM40 device is preset with 8 default light colors. You can select and apply different light colors with a simple click. In the case of the DM40Pro device, an additional custom color option has been incorporated. By clicking the “+” symbol, you are enabled to add custom colors. Should you need to modify, a right-click of the mouse will bring up a menu, allowing you to edit or delete the color at the current custom color setting.

Light brightness

For the brightness of the RGB lighting, you can adjust the brightness value in the lighting area. The DM40 is a wireless microphone, and an overly high brightness value will have an impact on the battery life of the microphone.

5. Firmware Upgrade

Click on the option in the upper right corner to open the option menu. Here, you can click on "Firmware Upgrade" to detect new firmware updates.

Firmware Upgrade

When there is a new firmware update available, the specific version that needs to be updated will be displayed. You can click on "Firmware Upgrade" to start upgrading the new firmware. After the upgrade is completed, please reconnect the microphone once so that the new firmware can take effect.

Attention:

Please make sure that the product has sufficient power when upgrading the firmware. Do not disconnect the USB cable or click the shutdown button during the upgrade process. Any abnormal disconnection in these situations may lead to the failure of the upgrade.

If you encounter a situation where the firmware upgrade fails, just click "Retry". If you have any problems, please contact us in a timely manner through the customer service of the store where you purchased the product or via our official phone channels.

Restore factory settings

On the firmware upgrade page, we provide the function of restoring factory settings. It is usually used when you encounter abnormal debugging so as to restore all parameters to the factory state.
